Our Story
Who is Eddy?
Eddy was the heart behind Eddy's Nomads Dog Rescue.
He came to us as a 12-year-old senior dog after being rescued from the streets of Hamilton. From the moment he arrived, we knew he was home. Despite everything he had endured, Eddy chose love. He embraced his new life with quiet gratitude, gentle kindness, and a spirit that touched everyone he met.
Our chocolate Labrador, Maverick, quickly took on the role of Eddy's protector and companion. The two were inseparable, and watching their bond reminded us of the incredible resilience and capacity for love that dogs possess.
Eddy was the kind of dog who made everyone smile. He was calm, affectionate, and endlessly gentle, yet he also had a playful side. He proudly lived up to the nickname "Fast Eddy," convinced he was the fastest dog around, no matter what his age said.
What made Eddy truly unforgettable, though, was the look in his eyes. They reflected a soul that had experienced hardship and trauma, yet still chose trust, hope, and unconditional love. He taught us that a dog's past does not define their future—it simply makes their second chance even more meaningful.
We were incredibly fortunate to share two wonderful years with Eddy. During that time, he changed our lives and left a lasting impression on every person who had the privilege of meeting him.
When Eddy crossed the Rainbow Bridge, we knew his story couldn't end there. His legacy deserved to live on. Eddy's Nomads Dog Rescue was created in his honour—a rescue dedicated to giving every dog, regardless of age, breed, or past, the same chance that Eddy was given: to be loved, to belong, and to find a place to call home.
Every dog we rescue carries a piece of Eddy's legacy with them, reminding us why we do what we do and inspiring us to never stop believing in second chances.

Behaviour & Training Resources
At Eddy’s Nomads, we believe setting a dog up for success goes far beyond finding them a home. Giving them the right tools, guidance, and support along the way can make all the difference.
We are incredibly fortunate to work with Amanda Benedictus of Rustic Paws, who offers comprehensive, practical, and affordable training programs for dogs of all breeds, ages, and needs.
Amanda generously volunteers her time, experience, and knowledge to work with our rescue dogs. From basic skills and confidence building to more complex behavioural needs, she helps us better understand each dog and prepare them for a successful transition into their forever home.
Her support allows our Nomads to head into their next chapter putting their best paw forward. ❤️🐾
