MISSION & IMPACT
Veterans x Canines connects military veterans with rescue dogs through thoughtful matching, permanent adoption, and lifelong companionship.
Many rescue dogs need consistency, structure, and patience to thrive. Many veterans bring exactly that. By carefully pairing each dog with the right person, we build bonds rooted in loyalty and mutual trust — giving a dog a permanent home and a veteran a steadfast companion for life. VxC is not a service dog training or certification program.

OUR STORY
IT STARTED WITH ONE DOG
MEET MOOSE
Moose is a German Shepherd who was facing potential euthanasia because of behavioural challenges. Many saw a difficult dog. We saw a dog who needed someone to believe in him.
With patience, structure, and proper care, Moose began to thrive. His transformation showed us what is possible when a rescue dog is given consistency and commitment.
His story inspired Veterans x Canines: connecting rescue dogs with veterans who may offer the consistency, commitment, and companionship these dogs need — and building a bond that lasts a lifetime.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?
VxC welcomes military veterans who are ready to offer a rescue dog consistency, structure, and a permanent home. Every application is reviewed individually by the Eddy’s Nomads Dog Rescue team.
IS THIS A PERMANENT ADOPTION?
Yes. VxC is built around permanent adoption and lifelong companionship. Dogs are placed with veterans as family members, not as temporary fosters or loans.
HOW ARE VETERANS AND DOGS MATCHED?
Matching is personal and thoughtful. We consider each veteran’s lifestyle, home, and experience alongside each dog’s temperament and needs, then arrange meetings so both can connect before any adoption is finalized.
DOES VXC PROVIDE CERTIFIED SERVICE DOGS?
No. VxC is not a service dog training or certification program. We connect veterans with rescue dogs for companionship through adoption. The dogs are not trained or certified as service animals.
