Our Story

Who is Eddy?

Eddy was the heart behind Eddy's Nomads Dog Rescue.

He came to us as a 12-year-old senior dog after being rescued from the streets of Hamilton. From the moment he arrived, we knew he was home. Despite everything he had endured, Eddy chose love. He embraced his new life with quiet gratitude, gentle kindness, and a spirit that touched everyone he met.

Our chocolate Labrador, Maverick, quickly took on the role of Eddy's protector and companion. The two were inseparable, and watching their bond reminded us of the incredible resilience and capacity for love that dogs possess.

Eddy was the kind of dog who made everyone smile. He was calm, affectionate, and endlessly gentle, yet he also had a playful side. He proudly lived up to the nickname "Fast Eddy," convinced he was the fastest dog around, no matter what his age said.

What made Eddy truly unforgettable, though, was the look in his eyes. They reflected a soul that had experienced hardship and trauma, yet still chose trust, hope, and unconditional love. He taught us that a dog's past does not define their future—it simply makes their second chance even more meaningful.

We were incredibly fortunate to share two wonderful years with Eddy. During that time, he changed our lives and left a lasting impression on every person who had the privilege of meeting him.

When Eddy crossed the Rainbow Bridge, we knew his story couldn't end there. His legacy deserved to live on. Eddy's Nomads Dog Rescue was created in his honour—a rescue dedicated to giving every dog, regardless of age, breed, or past, the same chance that Eddy was given: to be loved, to belong, and to find a place to call home.

Every dog we rescue carries a piece of Eddy's legacy with them, reminding us why we do what we do and inspiring us to never stop believing in second chances.

Foster & Volunteer

Good people. Good Dogs. Great Community.
Not everyone can adopt. Everyone can make a difference.

At Eddy’s Nomads Dog Rescue, we believe rescue is about more than finding dogs homes. It's about building a community of people who care enough to show up.

Whether you're opening up your home to a dog in need, helping at an adoption event, or lending your skills behind the scenes, there's a place for you in the pack.

Big commitment or small contribution, every bit of help makes a difference.

OPEN YOUR HOME. CHANGE A LIFE.

BECOME A FOSTER.

Fostering is one of the most important parts of rescue.

By welcoming a dog into your home, you're giving them a safe place to land, a chance to decompress, and the opportunity to experience the love and stability they deserve while we search for their forever family.

You don't have to be an expert. You just need patience, compassion, and a willingness to help a dog find their way.

WHY FOSTER?

  • Give a dog a safe and loving temporary home

  • Help us learn more about each dog's personality and needs

  • Prepare dogs for successful adoption

  • Make room for another dog in need

  • Be part of a supportive rescue community

You provide the love. We'll work together on the rest.

Every foster home makes it possible for us to help another dog.

FIND YOUR PLACE IN THE PACK.

BECOME A VOLUNTEER.

Not in a position to foster? No problem.

There are plenty of ways to get involved with Eddy's Nomads, and every helping hand makes our mission possible.

Whether you've got a few hours a month or want to become a regular part of the crew, we'd love to have you.

MORE THAN A RESCUE. A COMMUNITY.

You don't need a perfect schedule or years of experience to get involved. What matters most is compassion, reliability, and a genuine desire to make a difference.
